Columbus Blue Jackets coach Scott Arniel has sent several messages to his team this season without opening his mouth. He has chosen the lineup card as his vehicle to get his message across to let players know there are no names written in ink.
His latest example was Monday night in front of the home crowd at Nationwide Arena when he scratched Fedor Tyutin, which was the first time in his three seasons with the Blue Jackets that the Russian defenseman watched from the press box when he was not injured.
