Armstead leads Wichita State past Detroit

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Malcolm Armstead had 20 points and six assists as Wichita State recorded its highest point total of the season, beating Detroit 94-79 in a BracketBusters game on Saturday.
Cleanthony Early and Carl Hall added 18 points apiece, and Demetric Williams scored 14 for the Shockers (24-5), who shot 55 percent from the field.
Ray McCallum scored 29 points, Nick Minnerath had 25 and Doug Anderson 11 for Detroit (18-10). The Titans shot 45 percent from the field but made just 7 of 16 free throws.
Wichita State led by 11 at halftime before Detroit cut the deficit to 63-62 with 12:39 remaining. The Shockers then closed the game with a 31-17 run, including eight straight free throws down the stretch.
