TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Jahii Carson scored 21 points, Jordan Bachynski blocked seven shots and Arizona State outlasted Cornell 64-53 Tuesday night in a disjointed game for both teams.

Arizona State (3-0) couldn't get the ball inside early and spent most of the first half missing 3-pointers. The Sun Devils shot a little better in the second half to slowly pull away, making 8 of 27 from 3-point range after missing 15 in the first half.

Bachynski had trouble handling the ball in the post most of the night, but made up for it with his defense and 10 rebounds. Carson was 4 of 14 from the floor, but made 11 of 14 free throws and had four assists.

Cornell (1-4) had another miserable night offensively, shooting 35 percent while turning it over 23 times.

Shonn Miller had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Big Red.
