The Arizona women’s soccer team battled Kansas to a 1-1 draw Friday night in the Wildcats' first match of the Sun Devil Classic.

Junior transfer Alexandra Doller scored her fourth goal of the season with five minutes left in regulation for Arizona (3-0-2) to tie things up with Kansas (3-1-1) 1-1, with Ana-Maria Montoya earning the assist. After Doller’s goal, the Wildcats and Jayhawks went to double overtime, but neither team was able to find the net.

After a rain and lightning delay of over an hour during the first half, Arizona came out strong in the second half, recording eight of the 10 total shots. Senior Jazmin Ponce led the Wildcats with three shots, one of which was on goal. For the game, though, Kansas outshot Arizona 26-12, with Jamie Fletcher leading the Jayhawks with six shots.

Arizona goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman posted an impressive performance, finishing with seven saves, while Kansas goalkeeper Kaitlyn Stroud recorded six saves.

The Wildcats next take on Illinois in their second match of the Sun Devil Classic. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.
