Aqueduct cancels Wednesday card because of frigid weather

NEW YORK (AP) Aqueduct has canceled its card because of the frigid weather gripping the New York area.

Temperatures are forecast to rise only into the mid-20s on Wednesday. Combined with 20-30 mph winds, the wind chill factor will be in the single digits.

The New York Racing Association statement says the decision was made ''out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our jockeys and our equine athletes.''

Both Aqueduct and Belmont Park remained open for simulcast wagering on out-of-state races.
