KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Police in Kansas City are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in between the stadiums that are home to the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals as an attempted murder-suicide.

Officers were called to a parking area between Arrowhead Stadium and Kauffman Stadium around 3:30 p.m. Friday. Police said a woman was taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds, and a man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident happened several hours before the scheduled start of the Royals' game against the Los Angeles Angels, which the team said it would be played as scheduled.

Police did not immediately have any additional information about what led to the shooting.
