Angels' Josh Hamilton to miss 6-8 weeks due to torn ligament in thumb

Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb.
He hurt his thumb sliding head-first into first base during the Angels' 5-3 loss to the Mariners on Tuesday. It's uncertain whether Hamilton will need surgery. According to the Angels, Hamilton will be examined on Friday to see whether he requires surgery.
