Angels, FOX Sports West announce 50-game Spanish schedule
Anaheim,
CA – FOX Sports West,
in partnership with the Los Angeles Angels, today announced a 50-game
Spanish-language schedule which will be made available to all Los Angeles
market video providers. This
line-up follows FOX Sports Networks (FSN) announcement earlier today to launch
an expansive effort to serve Hispanic fans in Southern California.
The
50 high-definition Angels broadcasts will include all home games highlighted by
Opening Day coverage on Friday, April 6 vs. the Kansas City Royals. Other
highlights include, the New York Yankees on May 28 and 29 and the Boston Red
Sox series beginning Tuesday, April 28.
All
Spanish-language Angels games offered by FOX Sports West will feature the
announcing team of Amaury Pi-Gonzalez providing play-by-play and Jose
Mota delivering expert analysis. Pi-Gonzalez began his broadcasting
career with the Oakland Athletics in 1977 while Mota enters his 11th season with the Angels broadcast team.
“As we embark
on a new era of Angels Baseball, we are thrilled to provide our Hispanic fans
with an even greater selection of Spanish-language games this season,” said
Dennis Kuhl, Chairman, Los Angeles Angels.
“We are
pleased to enhance our complement of Spanish-language telecasts and look
forward to further serving the Hispanic Angels fans in the Southern California
community,” said Steve Simpson, Senior Vice President and General Manager, FOX
Sports West and PRIME TICKET.
These
games will be available on Time Warner, Bright House and Cox, while discussions
with other providers are ongoing.
FOX
Sports West’s Spanish-language TV productions will include play-by-play,
graphics, player interviews and more. All video providers in the Los
Angeles market will have the opportunity to offer these games to their
customers. According to Nielsen Media Research, Los Angeles is the largest
Hispanic DMA in the U.S., with more than 1.8 million television homes. FSN’s
Spanish-language effort will be game focused and will serve to complement FOX
Sports West and PRIME TICKET, as well Fox Deportes, the 24-hour,
seven-day-a-week Spanish-language sports network.
