Honors FSSD at the 51st Annual Alonzo Award Celebration
SAN DIEGO – The Downtown San
Diego Partnership honored FOX Sports San Diego (FSSD) Thursday evening at the
51st annual Alonzo Awards Celebration as the recipient of a 2013 Alonzo Award. The
award recognizes the efforts of those who have contributed significantly to the
enhancement and enrichment of Downtown San Diego within the last year.
“It
is truly and honor to do business in this wonderful city we now call
home,” said Henry Ford, Senior Vice President, FOX Sports San Diego.
“The Downtown San Diego Partnership is an outstanding organization, that
is such a strong advocate for our city and region. We're so proud to be here
and recognized for our humble contributions.”
This year marks the 51st annual Alonzo Award
Celebration. The awards dinner, which took place at the San Diego Marriott
Marquis and Marina, was attended by more than 500 of San Diego’s business and
community leaders.
The
Alonzo Awards are named after Alonzo Horton, who came to San Diego in 1867.
After purchasing 960 acres of bayfront land, which at the time totaled just
$264, Horton had the foresight to start laying out the seeds of a great city.
The Downtown San Diego Partnership continues this legacy as the leading
advocate for the branding, revitalization, economic vitality, and growth of
Downtown San Diego.
