MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez announced changes to his senior staff on Thursday as a result of the resignation of senior associate athletic director John Chadima.

Senior assistant athletic director Tim Wise will serve in an interim role on the senior staff and will oversee major capital projects and facilities master plan coordination, among other responsibilities.

Assistant athletic director Doug Tiedt will assume sport administration responsibilities in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track and field and wrestling.  Associate AD Justin Doherty will serve as sport administrator for men's basketball. Deputy athletic director Sean Frazier and associate athletic director Randy Marnocha also will take over new roles as sports administrators.

Chadima served as a senior associate athletic director who oversaw capital projects and was the sports administrator for football, wrestling and men's and women's golf. He resigned on Jan. 6 following an incident of misconduct, which is believed to have taken place when the Wisconsin football team was in Los Angeles for the Rose Bowl.

Chadima released a statement on Thursday in his first public comments since resigning.

"I have resigned as associate athletic director from UW-Madison so as not to bring disrepute to the University of Wisconsin," Chadima said in the statement. "I deeply regret leaving under these circumstances and disappointing those people with, and for whom, I have worked and dedicated my career for the past 22 years. I make no excuses and accept full responsibility for my actions."

In the statement, Chadima also asked for forgiveness for his "recent lapse in judgment."

University officials have not released details of about the misconduct allegation because they are waiting for an independent review panel to complete its own investigation.
