Allen quarterback Kyler Murray, who has led the Eagles to a 14-0 record and a berth in the Class 6A Division I semifinals, has been named the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year.

Murray was presented the award Monday in an event that included a surprise visit from Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr.

Murray, who has committed to Texas A&M, has thrown for nearly 4,000 yards and rushed more more than 1,300 for the 14-0 Allen team. He's also accounted for 69 touchdowns. The son of former Texas A&M quarterback Kevin Murray, Kyler Murray is a two time first team All-USA selection by USA Today and is 40-0 as a starting quarterback for the Eagles.
