All charges have been dropped against North Carolina forward P.J. Hairston in connection with a June 5 arrest, according to InsideCarolina.com. But when reached by FOXSportsCarolinas.com, the Durham County court clerk said they could not comment on the situation.

Hairson was stopped at a license checkpoint on June 5 and he was stopped and charged with possession of marijuana and for driving without a license.

According to court records obtained by InsideCarolina.com, "Hairston obtained and completed a drug assessment and the state decided not to proceed based on those actions." He also was able to provide his current driver's license.

The June 5 incident report noted that police seized a 9mm handgun, along with a magazine with nine rounds of ammunition. But no charges were brought up on the firearm.

Still unresolved is the matter of the car that Hairston was driving. The 2013 GMC Yukon USA TODAY first reported that the vehicle was rented by Haydn "Fats" Thomas of Durham, an ex-convict, from June 2 to June 5 for $1,261.64.

On May 13, Hairston was cited for speeding in Durham in a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro that was rented by Catinia Farrington at the same address as Thomas.

While Hairston has avoided any further legal charges, there remains the possibility the NCAA could look into his driving these rented vehicles.

Tar Heels coach Roy Williams released a statement regarding the Hairston situation, saying in part "P.J. and I have had several discussions already and he knows he has made serious mistakes and there will be serious consequences as a result. Certainly the idea of suspending P.J. has been discussed. However, he is not currently enrolled in summer school, is not practicing with the team and we have no games until November. There are several options available in terms of discipline, but we are going to wait until the process is complete to decide on those options."
