The turnstile in Austin continues to work overtime. Although he left the 40 Acres less than a month ago, former defensive backs coach Duane Akina has decided to return to Texas.

Akina originally decided to leave UT and return to Arizona, where he had coached for a decade from 1992-2002. Akina made his announcement on the heels of Manny Diaz's appointment as defensive coordinator, replacing Will Muschamp who became head coach at the University of Florida. To replace Akina, Texas hired Jerry Gray. However, Gray was named as defensive coordinator for the NFL's Tennessee Titans over the weekend.

The Horns certainly didn't have to look very hard for a replacement for Gray. Akina had been on campus in Austin since 2003 before he left for Tucson. Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne posted on his Twitter feed that Akina was returning to Texas due to "family considerations."

A formal announcement is expected later today. The hiring of Akina would be the seventh of a very tumultuous offseason in Austin. Change was expected
