AIA postpones football semifinals until Monday
The Arizona Interscholastic Association announced Friday morning that all of this weekend's state semifinal football games will be postponed and played on Monday at 6 p.m.
The AIA cited rain, poor field conditions and concern for the safety of players and fans in announcing the decision.
The rescheduling will create a condensed week of preparation for next week's state championship games, which are scheduled to be played on Friday, Nov. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 30. The Division I, Division II and Division III title games will be televised live on FOX Sports Arizona.
The updated schedule is as follows:
Division I semifinals
Hamilton vs. Chandler at Gilbert Highland HS
Desert Ridge vs. Mountain Pointe at Tempe McClintock HS
Division II semifinals
Deer Valley vs. Salpointe at Marana HS
Chaparral vs. Mesquite at Gilbert HS
Division III semifinals
Desert Edge vs. Saguaro at Phoenix Arcadia HS
Queen Creek vs. Williams Field at Gilbert Campo Verde HS
Division IV semifinals
Blue Ridge vs. Show Low at Snowflake HS
River Valley vs. Seton Catholic at Phoenix North Canyon HS
Division V semifinals
Round Valley vs. Arizona Lutheran at Paradise Valley HS
Thatcher vs. Yuma Catholic at Yuma Cibola HS
1 p.m., Division III championship, at Arizona Stadium, Tucson
2 p.m., Division V championship, at North Canyon HS, Phoenix
6 p.m., Division II championship, at Arizona Stadium, Tucson
6:30 p.m., Division IV championship, at North Canyon HS, Phoenix
3:30 p.m., Division I championship, at University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale
