Agent: UMinn coach informed university of drug allegations
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The agent for the longtime University of Minnesota wrestling coach is disputing allegations from a team member that the coach covered up the wrestlers' plans to sell and use an anti-anxiety drug.
The university police department is investigating allegations that several Golden Gophers wrestlers have been involved in selling and using Xanax.
The Star Tribune of Minneapolis quoted an anonymous team member last week who said coach J Robinson collected hundreds of pills from his wrestlers and did not report the issue to the university or police.
Attorney James C.W. Bock late Monday said Robinson ''specifically informed the university through multiple channels'' after he became suspicious in late February and early March that team members were using drugs.
A university spokesman did not immediately return a call for comment Tuesday.
