PHOENIX -- A player of the week and a player of the future are now part of the Phoenix Suns family.
Third-year forward Markieff Morris earned the first Western Conference Player of the Week Award of his career for his performance from Nov. 4-10. Meanwhile, guard Goran Dragic was greeted by a bigger prize, the birth of his first son, Mateo.
Dragic's wife, Maja, gave birth to their first child, Mateo, on Monday. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 6.9 ounces, and the team reports that both mother and child are healthy.
Meanwhile, Morris became the first Sun to win a player of the week designation in give years, dating back to Amar'e Stoudemire on Nov. 10, 2008.
Morris helped the Suns win three of four games by averaging 22.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in the four games. He shot 69.8 percent from the field to help the Suns improve to 5-2, their best start since 2009.
The Suns return to action on Wednesday night in Portland to face the Trail Blazers at 8:00 p.m. on FOX Sports Arizona. Their next home game is Friday at 7 p.m. against the Brooklyn Nets.
