91-year-old sets record in marathon

Harriette Thompson, 91, a cancer survivor from North Carolina, became the second-oldest marathon finisher in U.S. history and set an age-group record of 7:07:42 at the the Suja Rock 'n' roll San Diego Marathon.

Solomon Deksisa of Ethiopia broke away from Kenyan Geoffrey Bundi near mile 11 and won the half marathon in 1 hour, 12 seconds, the fastest time on U.S. soil this year.

Bundi finished second in 1:00:28.

Ben Bruce of Flagstaff, Arizona, won the marathon in 2:23:50. Jameson Mora of Paso Robles was second in 2:27:03.

Anna Corrigan of Phoenix made her debut a winning one, taking the women's race in 2:44:28. That was 3:10 faster than Bonnie Axman of San Diego.
