BOSTON (AP) Three-time Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings has been cleared to play after undergoing surgery last year on her dislocated right shoulder.
Dr. William Schobert said in a statement Friday that Walsh Jennings received a medial reevaluation as part of a postoperative visit Thursday. She underwent a successful repair of her shoulder in September 2015.
The clearance means Walsh Jennings can return to participating in tournament play as the defending gold medalist attempts to qualify for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Walsh is teaming with April Ross, a silver medalist at the 2012 London Olympics.
