2013 Fantasy Minute: NFC East Breakout Player

My 2013 fantasy football breakout star coming out of the NFC East is Redskins' tight end Fred Davis. Other nominees considered were Giants' receiver Reuben Randle and tight end Brandon Myers.

Out of all the training camps, few have carried more intrigue than the Redskins.  Call it a rift, a spat, a dad looking out for his franchise son, but Mike Shanahan's handling (coddling?) of Robert Griffin III's rehab has been interesting.  The good news is fantasy owners know RG3 will play this season.  It's just a matter of how much he runs compared to last season when he rushed for over 800 yards with seven touchdowns.  I believe RG3 evolves into more of a pocket passer, letting Alfred Morris run the rock, and starts to increase the fantasy value of Pierre Garcon and Davis.

Before he missed a chunk of time the last few seasons due to suspension and injury, Davis was a fantasy star on the rise.  He just couldn't seem to stay out of his own way off-the-field.  In five seasons, Davis averaged over 12 yards per reception with 12 touchdowns on his resume.  As deep as the tight end pool is this fantasy football season, Davis is worth a look towards the end of drafts.
