2 placed on, 2 come off IR for Blue Jackets
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated right wing Nick Foligno and left wing Matt Calvert off Injured Reserve and placed goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and defenseman David Savard on Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Foligno, 28, has missed the past six games after suffering an upper body injury on January 8 at Carolina. He has registered six goals and 19 assists for 25 points with 30 penalty minutes in 39 games this season. The Buffalo, New York native has notched 122-182-304 and 503 penalty minutes in 584 career games with the Blue Jackets and Ottawa Senators in nine NHL seasons. Acquired from Ottawa via trade on July 1, 2012, he has posted 61-95-156 with 204 penalty minutes and a +17 plus/minus rating in 233 games.
Calvert, 26, has missed the past nine games after suffering a knee injury on December 29 vs. Dallas. He has tallied 6-1-7 and 20 penalty minutes in 39 games this season. The Brandon, Manitoba native has recorded 48-45-93 and 161 penalty minutes in 248 career NHL games after being selected with the club's fifth pick, 127th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.
Bobrovsky, 27, suffered a groin strain on Thursday vs. Calgary and will be sidelined indefinitely. He is 11-13-1 with a 2.65 goals-against average, .911 save percentage and one shutout in 27 games this season. The Novokuznetsk, Russia native has posted a 136-84-25 record with a 2.52 goals-against average, .918 save percentage and 12 shutouts in 257 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers. Acquired from Philadelphia via trade on June 22, 2012, he has compiled a 94-61-15 record with a 2.43 goals-against average, .921 save percentage and 12 shutouts in 174 appearances with Columbus and won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goaltender following the 2012-13 campaign.
Savard, 25, was placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to January 13 after suffering an oblique strain at Toronto. He is expected to miss four weeks from the time of the injury. He has collected 1-15-16 and 31 penalty minutes in 39 games with the Blue Jackets this season. The St. Hyacinthe, Quebec native has tallied 19-58-77 and 146 penalty minutes in 226 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. Savard was Columbus' third pick, 94th overall, in the 2009 NHL Draft.
