It's been a while since Anthony Grayson II played in a game on a Friday night.
That will change this Friday when Redlands East Valley hosts Mission Viejo in the Ford CIF Southern Section Game of the
Week on Prime Ticket at 7 p.m.
The Redlands East Valley wide receiver transferred from Rancho Cucamonga mid-season last year after playing four games with the Cougars. On Friday, he'll make his season and REV debut after being forced to sit out because of transfer rules. Facing the Diablos in his first game back is quite the task, but he says he's up for it. In the meantime, here's 10 things you may not know about the wide receiver:
Meet the Frosty One
Grayson's nickname is Frost. He was given the name as a ninth grader by one of his 7-on-7 coaches.
"(My coach called me that) because I started freezing up DBs when I was doing my routes," he said.
Late night snack
If it's late, Grayson is going with the old school peanut butter and jelly. Grape or strawberry jelly?
"It doesn't matter," he said.
Favorite team
Grayson has family ties with the Baltimore Ravens, so he has to go with them as his favorite team. His cousin, Gary Walker, was signed by the team as an undrafted free agent and was with them during training camp.
Favorite movie
Grayson admits he doesn't have a favorite movie, but if pressed he'd go with the 2012 film "Safe House" starring Denzel Washington.
No acting experience required
If there was ever to be a film on Anthony Grayson II, who'd play him in the movie?
"Probably myself," he said.
The Wildcats receiver has never acted a day in his life but says he could get it done.
No. 1
When he was at Rancho Cucamonga, Grayson wore uniform No. 1. After transferring to Redlands East Valley, that number was available and he stuck with it. He liked being first.
"I was like I want to be No. 1 so I can be the first one on the roster, and it just started becoming a part of me," Grayson said.
Biggest Fear
"My biggest fear is God," Grayson said.
Hobbies
In his free time he likes hanging around his cousins and his uncle. One of those cousins, Tra'on Grayson is a senior defensive back at Rancho Cucamonga.
"Any chance I get I try to go over there," he said.
If you could accomplish something in any sport, what would it be?
Grayson would stay on football for this.
"I would say catch a one-handed pass in the back of the endzone for a Super Bowl win," he said.
The right-hander throws another caveat into the equation.
"I would want to do it left-handed," he said.
