BERN, Switzerland (AP) World downhill champion Patrick Kueng will skip offseason training in South America to rest his injured knee.
Switzerland's ski federation says Kueng will be sidelined for up to eight weeks and miss a training camp in Chile.
Kueng says he still hopes to race in the first World Cup downhill of the season, on Nov. 28 at Lake Louise, Alberta.
The 31-year-old Kueng damaged a tendon in his left knee during training in July.

Kueng had a career-best win in February, taking gold in the signature downhill race of the two-yearly world championships at Beaver Creek, Colorado.
Kueng also got one of his two World Cup race wins on the Birds of Prey course at Beaver Creek, which hosts the men's World Cup circuit on Dec. 4-6.
