The U.S. Olympic Committee has named former Chicago 2016 spokesman Patrick Sandusky as its new chief communications officer.

Sandusky took the role at the USOC on an acting basis in October and was appointed to the permanent post Wednesday.

Before working for the Chicago 2016 bid, Sandusky spent 10 years at the public relations firm Hill & Knowlton, where he was vice president of sports marketing.

He'll be moving to Colorado Springs, Colo., home of the USOC headquarters.
