THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) The United States moved to the top of its women's pool at the field hockey World Cup, beating China 5-0 Friday behind a hat trick by Katie O'Donnell.

The Americans are considered underdogs and lead Pool B with two wins and a draw. This was China's first loss.

O'Donnell opened the scoring in the fourth minute on a pass from Michelle Vitesse. Vitesse quickly made it 2-0 on a strike from just inside the circle. The two overwhelmed China with their speed and versatility.

Argentina beat Germany 3-0, looking rock-solid on defense and dominating on offense as well. One piece of bad news for Argentina was the early departure of star midfielder Luciana Aymar with a leg injury.
