ALICANTE, Spain (AP) U.S.-based Team Alvimedica has won the opening in-port race in Spain at the Volvo Ocean race.
Skipper Charlie Enright and his crew finished six seconds ahead of Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in Saturday's race, which covered 7.8 nautical miles.
MAPFRE was third, followed by Team Brunel, Dongfeng Race Team, Team SCA and Team Vestas Wind.
Points earned in the Alicante in-port race don't count toward the offshore overall trophy, other than as a tiebreaker in the case of teams finishing even on points.
