SOCHI SCENE: Dirty snow
KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia (AP) No need to adjust your set. Or call housekeeping.
The bottom of the Olympic aerials course looks a little dirty because it's meant to.
Course workers mix pine needles and other tree bits into the snow on the landing area to create contrast, both with the snow on the ground and any clouds that might blanch out the background.
A good line of vision is critical for these daredevils, who twist and flip while flying up to 50 feet in the air, then looking for a spot below to land their skis.
The women's aerials contest was Friday, with the men set to go Monday.
