Smith, Chapuis win skicross World Cup races

TEGERNSEE, Germany (AP) Fanny Smith of Switzerland won a women's ski cross race to cut the gap on Sweden's Anna Holmlund in the freestyle World Cup standings on Saturday.

Smith finished ahead of Alizee Baron of France for her 11th World Cup victory and 507 points, eight less than Holmlund, who finished third. France's Ophelie David was fourth.

Jean Frederic Chapuis followed up his first victory of the season last Sunday by claiming the standings' lead with his second in the men's race.

The Frenchman beat Germany's DanielBohnacker and Sweden's Victor Oehling Norberg in the final. Another Frenchman, Terence Tchiknavorian, was fourth.

Chapuis has 487 points, ten more than Oehling Norberg, with Bohnacker well back in third.

More races are scheduled for Sunday.
