SOCHI, Russia (AP) Russian favorite Ivan Skobrev and the entire Norwegian team have pulled out of the 10,000 meters, the final individual men's speedskating event at the Sochi Olympics.
Skobrev was a silver medalist in 2010. Russian coach Evgeny Yanin declined to give a reason Sunday for Skobrev's withdrawal. He is still scheduled to compete in the team pursuit.
Norway's Havard Bokko, Sverre Lund Pedersen and substitute Simen Spieler Nilsen withdrew from the 10,000 as well. A team spokesman said they wanted to concentrate on winning the country's first medal in pursuit.
Sven Kramer and the Dutch are heavy favorites in the 10,000, looking to earn their fourth medal sweep of the Sochi Games.
