Reiter wins snowboard slalom World Cup round in Moscow
MOSCOW (AP) U.S. snowboarder Justin Reiter took his first career World Cup win Saturday with victory in a parallel slalom event in Moscow.
California native Reiter defeated Austria's Benjamin Karl by 10.66 seconds in the final. Italy's Roland Fischnaller took third by 0.25 seconds from Andrey Sobolev of Russia.
Vic Wild, who was born in the United States, won double slalom gold for Russia at last year's Olympics but could not replicate that form Saturday as he went out in qualifying, as did World Cup standings leader Zan Kosir of Slovenia.
In the women's event, Austria's giant slalom world champion Claudia Riegler beat Switzerland's Julie Zogg by 0.17.
Another Swiss snowboarder, Patrizia Kummer, took third place by 0.07 seconds from compatriot Jenny Ladina.
