PARK CITY, Utah (AP) The U.S. Ski Team has reassigned women's technical coach Roland Pfeifer, who's been working with Olympic slalom champion Mikaela Shiffrin.

The squad didn't announce Pfeifer's new responsibilities Thursday, but said Alpine director Patrick Riml will take over on an interim basis to supervise the slalom/giant slalom squad.

Riml said in a statement the organization felt ''a change was important to create the best team dynamics and stability, providing focus for Mikaela Shiffrin and our other U.S. athletes.''

He also said Pfeifer will be reassigned so the team can ''continue to use his skills.''

The 19-year-old Shiffrin captured the last two World Cup slalom races. She won the event at the Sochi Games last February.

The technical team's last competition before world championships will be a night slalom Tuesday in Austria.
