Olympic champion Tom James is retiring from rowing to pursue a career as a business consultant.

The 29-year-old Briton won gold medals in the men's four at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and at the 2012 London Games during his 10 years in the senior squad. He was also in the British four that set a world best time in Lucerne last year.

James says "I feel very, very lucky. London 2012 in particular was an experience that could not be bettered."

James says he will remain connected to the sport by working with British Rowing's board and also with Cambridge University Boat Club.
