LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) The New Zealand Olympic Committee has become the first national Olympic body to receive the IOC's women in sport world trophy.
At the awards ceremony at the Olympic Museum, the NZOC was honored on Tuesday for its longstanding efforts to promote women in sport, that have resulted in strong female representation on its board, in senior management, and on its Olympic teams.
In accepting the trophy, Kereyn Smith, the secretary general of the NZOC, said she was delighted to come from a nation where sport was helping to create gender balance.
