KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia -- Joss Christensen led a quartet of Americans into the inaugural Olympic slopestyle skiing finals on Thursday.

Christensen posted the two highest scores of qualifying, including a 93.20 on his second run to pace the 12 riders that advanced out of qualifying.

Nick Goepper, the gold medal favorite, crashed during his first qualifying run but recovered on his second run to advance. Goepper said he was ''terrified'' after crashing but managed to calm the jitters enough to get through.

Gus Kenworthy and Bobby Brown also advanced.
