International Skating Union president Ottavio Cinquanta is hoping he can remain an IOC member even though he won't run for re-election in 2016.
Cinquanta tells The Associated Press that "I won't run (in 2016). But if the newly elected board wants, I would continue as the IOC delegate. ... So it's not definite that I'll leave the IOC."
Last year, the ISU board moved the quadrennial elections from 2014 to 2016 at Cinquanta's recommendation.
Cinquanta's IOC membership is based exclusively on him representing the ISU.

If Cinquanta is asked to stay on as an IOC member in 2016, he will lose his membership due to age in 2018, when he turns 80.
Cinquanta was first elected ISU president in 1994 and became an IOC member two years later.
