Fourcade clinches third World Cup biathlon title

HELSINKI -- Frenchman Martin Fourcade clinched his third World Cup biathlon title after finishing second behind Norway's Johannes Thingnes Boe in Sunday's men's 12.5-kilometer pursuit in Kontiolahti, Finland.

Boe's winning time was 33 minutes 37.1 seconds. Fourcade finished 16.3 seconds behind the winner, while Sweden's Bjoern Ferry came third 20.4 seconds behind.

With three races left, Fourcade leads the standings with 798 points. Boe is second with 560 and Norway's Emil Svendsen is third with 557 points.

Finland's Kaisa Makarainen won the women's 10-kilometer pursuit followed by Darya Domracheva from Belarus and Russia's Olga Zaitseva in third place.

The day was marked by intermittent gusty winds which hampered the shooting.
