European fencing confederation head Frantisek Janda dies

PRAGUE (AP) Frantisek Janda, the president of the European Fencing Confederation, died Tuesday. He was 48.
The Czech Olympic Committee and the country's fencing federation announced the death.
Janda died of a heart attack on his way to a World Cup event in Japan, where he was appointed an observer by the International Fencing Federation, the European confederation said in a statement.
Janda took over as the confederation's president in 2009 and was re-elected in 2013.
