The Italian Olympic Committee has rejected a bid by Bari for the 2020 Summer Games. CONI was unsatisfied with the southern city's proposal, saying Wednesday that cities intending to bid must present a viable plan based on IOC regulations and not "merely express their intention" to bid. With the Sicilian city of Palermo also having withdrawn plans to bid, Rome and Venice remain in the running to become Italy's candidate. CONI will decide next year which bid to put forward and the International Olympic Committee will select the host in 2013.
