China has donated $1 million to a World Anti-Doping Agency fund for research and the development of techniques to detect prohibited substances.

WADA said in a statement Thursday that the vice premier of the State Council for China, Liu Yandong, become the first national government leader to commit support.

In December 2013, International Olympic president Thomas Bach announced that the organization would invest $10 million to fund innovative athlete-centered anti-doping research, including new techniques for the detection of prohibited substances and methods, and called on governments to match the amount.
