Brazil fans mercilessly mock Argentina basketball players
Brazil and Argentina have a...fraught relationship, as far as sports and, well, history in general go.
Fans of the two nations generally can't stand each other in competition, and it opens up games to some colorful interactions.
So when the two teams faced off in a preliminary round game of hoops in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, the atmosphere was burning with mutual with distaste—and fans of the host nation went in early and hard on their Argentinian opponents.
The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn reports that Brazilian fans were chanting expletives at Argentinian players shooting free throws.
The back and forth in stands between Brazil and Argentina fans was strong, too.
Course chants were also heard in the concourse:
As of this writing Brazil and Argentina are in double overtime.
Dan is on Twitter. Heckling is an art form.
Apparently, these fans have just been trading insults in Spanish & Portuguese at each other all game. That. Is. Beautiful. #Rio2016

I am told these Brazil fans are mocking Argentina's lack of recent soccer success. If they're cussing, I apologize. pic.twitter.com/qXijm4C5b5
