Former world road champion Tom Boonen of Belgium has resumed training after breaking a rib, hoping to compete at the London Olympics.
The 2005 world champion crashed during the first stage of the Tour of Poland last week, fracturing a rib. His Omega Pharma Quick-Step team says he trained for about 60 miles without pain on Thursday.
The winner of Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders plans to ride the first three stages of the Tour of Wallonie before the Olympic road race on July 28.
Boonen, who skipped the Tour de France to focus on the Olympics, says ''it will be important to see how I react in a racing situation, in which my body will undergo a different type of stress and more intense effort.''
