Scottish racing driver David Coulthard is a 13-time race winner in Formula One, while Guy Martin is a road racing motorcycle rider who recently broke the World Record for fastest speed on the Wall of Death.

So, when both arrived at the 3.6-mile Silverstone Circuit to compete against each other in a series of challenges, their racing talent was definitely not in question.

What was in question, however, was the capability of their machines.

Of course, this is not the first time a challenge such as this has been attempted, and it has been well documented that - thanks to its braking and cornering abilities - a Formula One car would win a head-up race on the circuit.

So, the organizers decided to spice it up a bit, by telling Martin that he just had to turn three laps on the Superbike, while Coulthard had to turn four in the F1 machine, meaning his race would be 3.6 miles longer.

However, after a slower start off the line, Coulthard passed Martin in the first turn and turned laps averaging 30 mph faster than what Martin could do. Subsequently, Coulthard was able to pass Martin again on his fourth and final lap and crossed the line a full 13 seconds ahead.
