The stars of Monster Energy Supercross will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 when the sixth annual Monster Energy Cup will take place at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.

This year's running could be referred to as a race of champions, as the regular 450SX class riders will will be joined by MXGP World Champion Tim Gajser, who will take on the likes of defending event winner Ken Roczen and reigning Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey.

All of the riders will have a shot at winning $1 million, which is awarded to any rider who is able to win all three 10-Lap Main Events in the 450SX class.

Of the five former event winners - Ryan Villopoto (2011), Justin Barcia (2012), James Stewart (2013), Davi Millsaps (2014), Ken Roczen (2015) - only Villopoto has ever taken home the $1 million, by sweeping all three races back in the event's inaugural running.

"The 2016 Monster Energy Cup is going to be awesome," said Ricky Carmichael, who again helped design the track for this year's Monster Energy Cup. "The biggest thing is going to be the start. Riders will be taking off from the top of the stadium, going down 165 feet to the floor, then another 150 feet to the first turn. It's going to be unbelievable. The fans are going to love it and that's what makes the Monster Energy Cup so cool. We can do fun and unique things."
