Supercross: James Stewart to miss round 3 in Anaheim
Suzuki Racing’s James Stewart will miss the third round of the Monster Energy Supercross season Saturday night in Anaheim.
Fans of the popular 30-year-old rider from Florida had been hoping to see Stewart make a solid comeback to Supercross in 2016 after missing the 2015 season following a failed drug test.
However, Stewart briefly lost consciousness after a collision with reigning champion Ryan Dungey during the 450SX main at the season opener in Anaheim. Then, he opted not to race last week in San Diego after not feeling 100 percent during practice.
“James rode yesterday and today and felt he still wasn’t back to where he wants to be to race,” Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager Mike Webb said Friday. “The team is happy that James is taking a cautious approach to his return and we’re encouraged by his progress. We want him to feel fully prepared before he gets back into a racing situation; and with the improvements he’s making, he feels confident he’ll able to race in Oakland.”
Round 3 of the 2016 Monster Energy Supercross season from Anaheim will be shown live at 9:30 p.m. ET Saturday on FS1.
Round 4 from Oakland will air live at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 30 on FS1.
Both events will also be available to watch on the FOX Sports GO app.
