Schumacher leads Top Fuel qualifying
Tony Schumacher raced to the Top Fuel qualifying lead in the U.S. Nationals on Friday at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
Schumacher had a run of 3.814 seconds at 324.67 mph.
''It was a lot of pressure tonight but the NHRA did a great job with the track and we got it right and ended up on top,'' Schumacher said. ''We wanted to get down the track tonight and we managed to earn the top spot. We tested here last week and we ran great and it definitely helped us tonight.''
Jack Beckman topped the Funny Car field, Erica Enders led in Pro Stock, and Andrew Hines was the fastest in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Beckman finished in 4.051 seconds at 302.62 mph, Enders had a pass of 6.624 at 208.84, and Hines ran a 6.928 at 194.21.
The event ends the 17-race regular season. The top 10 in each division will qualify for the six-race Countdown to 1 playoffs.
