Pro Stock champ Erica Enders hopes Lady Luck's on her side in Vegas
Some seem to have all the luck in Las Vegas.
Erica Enders-Stevens has won the last 22 rounds she’s contested in at The Strip in Sin City, which includes the last four national events (two in 2015, two in 2014) and the last two K&N Horsepower Challenge races (2015, 2014).
The last time she didn’t win here was in Oct. 2013.
However, what has been just as much of a surprise has been the 32-year-old’s performance in 2016. Granted, she and her team knew it was going to be tough with the switch to fuel injection in Pro Stock and MOPAR power at Elite Motorsports, but first-round eliminations in the opening three rounds of the season is certainly not what many would’ve predicted.
Enders will be hoping for a turn of fortunes in Las Vegas and, what’s better, she’ll have two opportunities to get it done this weekend with the K&N Horsepower Challenge on Saturday.
"It's awesome to have that kind of run, and it's pretty unheard of," Enders said, reflecting on her Las Vegas accomplishments. "We've had an incredible two years there, and we've got a great opportunity ahead of us to do well this weekend. 22 consecutive round-wins in a row is huge, so Vegas has obviously been good to me. I'm hoping Lady Luck will get on our side this weekend. We certainly haven't had the best start to the year.
"We're going to continue to do our best. It's a tall order, but we've accomplished things with way more working against us than we have now. Anything is possible, and we'll go in there with the right mindset and hope for the best."
Qualifying for the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals will be shown at 11 p.m. ET Friday night on FS1 and 9 p.m. ET Saturday night on FS1. Racing action begins at 5 p.m. ET Sunday on FS1.
