McDream come true: Dempsey gets first podium finish at Le Mans

After leaving "Grey’s Anatomy," actor Patrick Dempsey continued his strong 2015 sports car racing career with his first podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Sunday.

It was Dempsey’s first podium finish in his fourth attempt at the race.

The 49-year-old has been racing for his Dempsey Racing team in the TUDOR United Sports Car Series and FIA WEC series in 2015, scoring a third place GTD class finish back in January at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in his Porsche 911.

This weekend, however, he and his co-drivers Patrick Long and Marco Seefried one-upped that, driving the No. 77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR home to a second-place finish in the Le Mans GTE-Am class, just one lap behind the class-winning No. 72 SMP Racing Ferrari after the 24 hours.
