Kimi Raikkonen remains patient despite early-season frustrations

Kimi Raikkonen insists that he has moved on after the frustration of his tangle with Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel in the Chinese GP.

Raikkonen was able to recover to fifth place, but it was a poor reward after he has shown good pace all season thus far.

“It was not ideal for any of us but that is part of racing,” he said of the clash. “It is in the past, and OK it cost us quite a bit, but we made the best out of it, and it wasn't a disaster. We never want to have accidents between anyone, and especially us two, but sometimes that is how it works. It can happen when there are 20-odd cars in the first corners.”

Raikkonen did not want to comment on Vettel's criticism of Dany Kvyat: “I have seen some, but it is nothing to do with me. I have nothing to comment between those two, unfortunately I was in the end of the whole thing and paid the biggest price, but like I said we managed to make a pretty good recovery out of it. Not ideal, but I still take those points after what happened in the first corner. It could have been an awful lot worse.”

The Finn has no special inkling that luck might be about to turn in his favor.

“I don't think this weekend is any different than others. Things can always happen and things been happening, we go in to the weekend like any other weekend and try to make best out of it and Sunday we will see if we managed to do good or not so good job.

“Wherever we go we know the car should be good enough but is it good enough to fight for the win? That is a different case. I think we keep making progress, everybody will be making progress but hopefully we get things slightly better all the time. The results are based on many small things, but let's wait and see how it goes.

“I think it is quite a nice track. I think in the past years it has been quite tricky to make the tires work on the short runs especially and last year the weather was pretty poor and some issue with someone dumping stuff on the track, oil or whatever it is, this weekend we should have good weather all weekend and have normal practice and go from there. I enjoy driving, not an easy circuit but same every place we go - it is okay to drive but making fast laps is never easy. Let's see how we can do tomorrow.”
