Toyota/JGRMX Yamaha's Justin Barcia was hospitalized after suffering a nasty crash in Saturday's Genova SX in Italy.

The Supercross star was battling for the lead with Christophe Pourcel when he made contact with Pourcel's rear wheel, slamming Barcia to the ground. Eli Tomac, who competes against Barcia in the Monster Energy Supercross 450SX class, was close behind and landed on Barcia's head. The race was immediately red flagged as Barcia was attended to by the medical staff.

Barcia, who recently signed with the JGRMX squad, tweeted the following update from his personal Twitter account: "Two bruised lungs sore neck and back and some air in my chest have to stay in intensive care for the night hopefully can get out tomorrow.

"No concussion nothing broken my gear did the job pourcell drifted from the inside to the outside of the section nothing I could do! #sucks"
