Jenson Button goes to hospital with eye irritation

Jenson Button has been forced to go to hospital for a check-up after complaining of an eye irritation.

The McLaren driver missed much of FP2 at Hockenheim and went to the circuit medical center, before it was decided that he needed more specialist treatment.

The team said simply: “Jenson complained of an eye irritation during FP2, and has gone to Mannheim hospital to have a precautionary check-up.”

Stoffel Vandoorne is in Germany and can step in if he is needed.
