DETROIT (AP) A safety worker injured in a race last weekend at Belle Isle was still hospitalized Thursday, though the International Motorsports Association says it's been informed his condition is improving.

Several cars were involved in an accident scene at the end of Saturday's TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race, including one car that crashed into a safety truck that was on the track. One safety worker was evaluated and released from the infield care center, and another was hospitalized.

The IMSA says it launched a review in collaboration with the Detroit Grand Prix to determine what happened. An IMSA executive visited the worker Sunday, and driver James Davison visited Monday.

The IMSA previously said the worker had broken ribs, a collapsed lung and injuries to his spleen and kidney.
